Mental Health Counseling Services Covered By L&I

WA Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) allows all injured workers to receive 16 counseling sessions, known as BHI, without any approval needed. No mental health diagnosis is necessary. It is confidential, at no cost to you, and all you need is your doctor's referral.

If needed, counseling of longer duration can be attained by completing a mental health evaluation, receiving a mental health diagnosis, and L&l's determination that the mental health diagnosis is claim related. This allows for more in-depth and long-term treatment with L&l approval.
